It’s National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW), September 13-19, 2015! A big “thank you” to all of the professional truck drivers out there who continually keep our economy and our goods moving in the right direction. Without your dedication and tenacity, production and distribution would come screeching to halt. We truly appreciate the instrumental work that you do!
To channel their legacy and promote awareness, we would like to recognize the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. NTDAW is a tradition started by ATA in 1988 “in an effort to honor those hard-working men and women who deliver life’s essentials every day.”
The number of those hard-working men and women is growing every year, and a group as large as 3.4 million individuals deserves a little more recognition. Per ATA, professional truck drivers clock in an average of 421 billion miles each year. “In 2013, trucking professionals delivered 69.1 percent of the U.S. freight tonnage, equivalent to 9.7 billion tons of freight. 80 percent of U.S. communities depend solely on the trucking industry for the delivery of goods.” The responsibilities of professional truck drivers in America are extensive, and we would like to acknowledge the hard work these men and women do everyday.
Earlier this year, as the NTDAW 2015 logo was unveiled, ATA President and CEO Bill Graves had this to say of the observance:
“National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a tremendous tradition, one that ATA is proud to carry on each year. We value the men and women who safely deliver our nation’s goods, and keep America moving forward, and we encourage fleets and shippers to honor their drivers for their hard work and commitment to the industry during this week and every week.”
Thank you again, drivers! You are greatly appreciated!
